As the heat of summer settles in, during long, sun-drenched days, I am spoiled by the rich availability of my favourite fruits and vegetables. Tomatoes ripened in the sun, their skins warm and taut, sweetcorn grilled simply in its silk, fruits that seem to taste of the season itself – peaches, plums, and berries so sweet they hardly need anything more than a spoon.
